After a moment, the title appears against the clouds.

There is an abrupt pan down to a sunny day.
Briar lays beneath a tree, daydreaming.
Above her, a dark bird flies by. Tinted blue by distance, an island floats far above.

I want to climb to the drifting stars
I want to hold the sky and never fall.

Briar sits up and waves at three other girls who come to join her, laughing and grinning.
The wind whips Briar's hair around her face and she looks to the distance.

the ocean weeps across the land

Stormclouds are building behind them.

The only whisper of the dream

Ki sits up in bed, her eyes wild and frightened.

are the footsteps in the sand.

Images begin to flicker very quickly.

There is no wind and yet it burns
the cycle never ends, it turns
I close my eyes and spin.
Wings of angels enfolding me,
Despite these chains, I will be free
I close my eyes and spin.

Fiery arrow shoots the moon,
the goddess opens up her arms,
that is how the story goes,
goddess shelter us from harm.
the stars come out at twilight
the stars return at dawn
the carousel is frozen
and one by one the stars are gone.

there is no wind and yet it burns,
the cycle never ends, it turns
I close my eyes and spin
I'm not alone here tonight
I will find you without light
I close my eyes and spin.

Climbing to the drifting stars
Fall to hold the sky
Without wings
will I learn to fly?

there is no wind and yet it burns,
the cycle never ends, it turns,
I close my eyes and spin.

A skyland close to the ground, casts a shadow over a city squarely beneath it. The city is grey, and many ropes connect ground to skyland. Suddenly the tethers snap, flying upwards, as the skyland begins to move.

A skyland floats ahead in the sky, motionless. Above and behind it, blued with distance floats another skyland

From extremely far above, looking down, the chain of skylands drifts across the map-like land.

End music

The waves of the lake wash the shore. The silhouette of a woman stands there, and then a man walks along the shore to join her.
